Unusual Feature of Early London Planes by Richard Arnold

An unusual feature of some early London moulding planes is a large level shoulder often finished with a small ogee or ovolo mould. Its usually reserved for wider complex moulders.

This is a good example of this feature. It's by John Cogdell of London 1750-1775.

He was apprenticed to his uncle, William Cogdell, who in turn was apprenticed to Robert Wooding.
